Guiding Principles
The Endowment for Community Leadership believes that life is most fully lived within the context of these guiding principles:
These five principles guide the projects and strategies of The Endowment for Community Leadership.
- That the purpose for life itself and proper values comes from a solid moral and spiritual foundation.
- That the well-being of the family is an essential foundation of our society and should be strengthened.
- That individuals must take responsibility for their own actions, lifestyle and behavior including the resulting consequences - even in the face of great adversity.
- That productive work is a necessary part of life. We gain much identity, self esteem and meaning in life by being involved in productive activity, utilizing our strengths where reward is linked to achievement.
- That individuals and organizations have a responsibility to the society in which they live. Leaders need to promote and model justice, ethics, morality and altruism for all citizens.
