Jay Walkers Challenge for Suicide Prevention

Every year, 800,000 individuals worldwide lose their lives to suicide. That's 2,200 people per day. This September, you and your team are invited to complete 800,000 steps to honor every life lost worldwide each year to suicide. In addition, you'll start conversations about suicide with friends, family, and co-workers and complete additional awareness raising challenges along the way.
Jay Walkers gets its name from Jay Gallagher, son of Jay Walkers founder, Erin Gallagher, who lost his life to suicide in 2016 at the age of 18. Jay had so much life to live and so much love to give, yet the stigma of suicide prevented him from asking for the help he knew he needed. By participating in Jay Walkers, teams will do their part to break down the stigma that stands in the way of people asking for and receiving life-saving help.
In addition to the annual challenge, the global community of Jay Walkers is committed to identifying, promoting, and supporting suicide prevention measures that work.
